Cassiope SydoriakCassiope Sydoriak completed her BA in Art History and Anthropology with a minor in Italian at the University of Colorado at Boulder (with a year abroad in Florence, Italy) on a prestigious scholarship from the Boettcher Foundation. She later worked at the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, the Boettcher Foundation, the Dairy Center for the Arts, and served on the Board of BikeDenver. In 2012 she received a Masters degree in History of Art from the University of Oxford under the supervision of Dr Hanneke Grootenboer, and her thesis was titled “The Autonomous Digital Image: An Investigation of Independence in Virtual Art Collections”.

Also in 2012, she co-founded the Broken Spoke Bike Co-op, a social enterprise in Oxford, UK, and acted as its Executive Director until September 2014. Cassiope received the University’s first Graduate Entrepreneurial Visa in support of this enterprise.

Since moving to New York City in 2015, Cassiope has worked at WhistlePig Whiskey, the country’s leading luxury producer of Rye. She originally acted as the Digital Media Manager, but quickly moved into the role of Head of Creative, served a short stint as the interim Marketing Director, and ultimately had her own department as Director, Key Account Engagement and Outreach. Brand development and corporate social responsibility have since become two of Cassiope’s most passionate pursuits.

Cassiope also volunteers with Superhero Clubhouse writing plays with 5th graders about climate change, and with The Tank, an innovative theater venue in Midtown Manhattan.

Along with her interest in art history, bicycling, and adult beverages, Cassiope is a seasoned teacher and performer of Lindy hop, Charleston, solo jazz, and blues. She has performed with the Hotfoot Strutters in London, was an extra in Guinness commercial about John Hammond, and co-organised the first Oxford Swing Festival and Oxford Summer Blues.
